Smt. Thimmakka from the state of Karnataka planted 284 banyan trees along a four-kilometre stretch of highway

Smt. Thimmakka from the state of Karnataka, India, is noted for her work in planting and tending to 284 banyan trees along a four-kilometre stretch of highway.
She received no formal education and worked as a casual labourer in a nearby quarry. Her husband was a cattle herder.
The couple used to carry four pails of water for a distance of four kilometres to water the saplings. They were also protected from grazing cattle by fencing them with thorny shrubs.

She has been given the name "Saalumarada" which means Line of trees in Kannada language.

Her work has been honoured with many awards including the National Citizen's Award of India. A U.S. environmental organisation based in Los Angeles and Oakland, California called Thimmakka's Resources for Environmental Education is named after her.

கடல் நீரிலிருந்து சுத்திகரிக்கப்பட்ட நீரைதான் மக்கள் பயன்படுத்துகிறார்கள்.
மக்கள் பயன்படுத்திய பிறகு வீடுகளில் இருந்து வெளியேறும் கழிவு நீர் மறு சுழற்சி செய்யப்பட்டு சாலையோர மரங்களுக்கும்,பூங்காக்களுக்கும் பாய்ச்சப்படுகிறது.

விலைக்கு வாங்கப்பட்ட நீரைக்கொண்டு பாலைவனத்தில் பசுமை குடில்கள் அமைத்து காய்கறிகளை பயிரிடுகிறார்கள்.

அப்படி பசுமை குடில்களில் பயிரிடப்பட்டிருக்கும் தக்காளி செடிகள்தான் மேலே உள்ள படம்.

கடந்த ஆண்டு மட்டும் UAE 38,000 டன் காய்கறிகளை விளைவித்து 20 மில்லியன் அமெரிக்க டாலர்களுக்கு விற்பனை செய்திருக்கிறது.

2020ம் ஆண்டுக்குள் நாட்டின் ஒட்டுமொத்த தேவையில் 40% காய்கறிகளை உள்நாட்டிலேயே உற்பத்தி செய்ய இலக்கு நிர்ணயித்திருக்கிறது ஐக்கிய அரபு அமீரக அரசு.

தக்காளி,முட்டைக்கோசு,வெள்ளரிக்காய்,கத்தரிக்காய் என ஒவ்வொரு காய்கறியாக பயிரிட்டு வந்தவர்கள் தற்போது கோதுமை பயிரிட்டு அறுவடை செய்யும் அளவிற்கு வளர்ந்துவிட்டார்கள்

இதே வேகத்தில் போனால் பாலைவனத்தில் நெல் அறுக்கும் காலம் விரைவில் வந்தாலும் ஒன்றும் ஆச்சர்யப்படுவதற்கில்லை.

விவசாயம் லாபகரமான தொழிலாக மாறும்போது விவசாயிகள் விவசாயத்தை விட்டு வேறு தொழிலுக்கு மாற மாட்டார்கள்.

இங்கு உள்நாட்டில் உற்பத்தி செய்யப்படும் காய்கறிகள் சற்று அதிக விலைக்கு விற்பனை செய்யப்படுகிறது.

ரசாயண பூச்சிக்கொல்லி மருந்துகளை பயன்படுத்தாமல் உற்பத்தி செய்யப்படும் காய்கறிகள் என்பதால் மக்கள் இவற்றை வாங்க அதிக ஆர்வம் காட்டுகின்றனர்.

UAEயை போன்றே பெரும்பாலும் பாலைவனத்தை கொண்ட நாடுதான் இஸ்ரேல்.

ஆலை இல்லாத ஊருக்கு இலுப்பைப்பூ சர்க்கரையை என்பது போல இஸ்ரேலில் ஓடும் யோர்தான் நதிதான் அவர்களின் ஒரே நீர் ஆதாரம்.

பல்விளக்கக்கூட பற்றாத தண்ணீரைக் கொண்டு பல பயிர்களையும் விளைவிக்கிறார்கள் இஸ்ரேலியர்கள்.

பரப்பளவில் மிகச்சிறிய நாடான இஸ்ரேலில் விவசாயம் நடைபெறும் பகுதி இன்னும் குறைவானது.

சொட்டு நீர் பாசனம்,தெளிப்பு நீர் பாசனத்தில் உலகிற்கே முன்னோடி இஸ்ரேலியர்கள்.

இஸ்ரேலிலாவது யோர்தான் நதி எனப்படும் ஒரு சிறிய நதி ஓடுகிறது.

Hi sir, Agri venture has lot of potential at the same time I have some questions regarding this. It may be useful for you and other members too. 

1) what you are going to grow there

We are planning to grow 200 trees in 1/2 acre.  It will be planted 10 feet - one tree.  Around 20 species of 10 trees each. Already some of my friends planted in their land like this 

2) For the same plant how much water required ?

Water will be provided as per the requirements in drip irrigation and other normal watering method also will be adopted

3) have you cross checked with the experts that the plants you are planning will grow in that region. 

We have one Horticulturist, Agricultural officer, Forest officer guiding in this venture.  More suggestions and guidelines appreciated from our members

4) have you did any soil testing and water testing

Yes. we have done soil testing and based on this, we are planning to plant trees

 5) If you need any help regarding this I can connect you with institute of forest genetics and tree breeding (ICFRE) autonomous body of ministry of environment and forests, govt of india, having institute in RS Puram, Coimbatore. I have a presentation in the same institute on 18th july, so can connect you with the people if you are interested. Also I can connect you with scientists in wood science technology, bangalore, Kerala forest research institute, Peechi, Thrissur, also to few tree growers association people in tamilnadu. We are planning to plant 200 trees and it is in the foothills of Western Ghats and a beautiful valley. The cost of land is 4.25 Lacs for 1/2 acres and it is estimated to grow 1.28 crores in 25 years and the tree value will be 6.4 crores in 25 years.
